Find Out What It Takes To Build True Intimacy

dsc4234

Thank you for visiting my Blog to read today’s post about finding out what it takes to build true intimacy. Thousands of authors have pontificated over this topic for a price that could easily rid you of the twenty-dollar bill stashed in the secret hiding place of your wallet for “emergencies”.

The answer to the question is plain, simple, and it’s FREE. Transparency. Yep, that one word sums up how to build true intimacy. Psalm 32:2 points to interpersonal transparency as a source of happiness. We read, “Blessed (happy) is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.”

Secrets are a sign that something is wrong. When we need to hide a twenty, hide a relationship, hide a habit, hide anything, we should feel a check in our Spirit. Transparency with God (and others) leads us to confess our sin and ask for forgiveness, which works toward ridding us of the spirit of deceit. When the conscious is clean, and we are right with God and those around us, there is nothing to hide. Continue reading

May I Have This Dance

  20091017_9213

When my children were toddlers and a Motown song would play on the radio at home I’d often ask, “May I have this dance?” My son or daughter would accept with a giggle and I’d stop my housework scoop him or her up in my arms and we’d twirl and do dips throughout the house. Actually, I’d do all the dancing but their participation made it joyful. All they had to do was say yes. I did the rest. As they got a little older I’d ask and my son or daughter would run to me and place his or her feet on top of mine. We’d Waltz or Tango to Motown throughout the house.

Last night the Lord brought that memory to mind and I felt as though He was saying to me, May I have this dance? It’s tempting to take the lead, but I believe God was reminding me He is the one who leads. While my children or I could have danced to Motown alone the experience was made richer because we did it together. They trusted me not to drop them when they were toddlers and not to step on their toes when they were older. How much more is our Heavenly Father mindful of our joy and safety? Yet I sometimes take the lead and dance myself right into a wall.

We’re never too big for Abba’s arms. We’re never too big to follow in His footsteps.

They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about. – Job 21:11

What Do You Think?

dsc4413

Semantics or not…that is the question. If a follower of Jesus says he or she is seeking God’s will, is that putting the principles before the principle maker? I have found time and again when I set my mind to follow God’s principals without first seeking the principal maker…I stumble.

Think about it: If the principals are what are sought first, who gets the glory, the principal maker, or the principal follower? Continue reading
